About the position

The Network Security Engineer will serve as a Subject Matter Expert in network security, focusing on the configuration and management of Palo Alto NGFW security systems. This role involves implementing advanced security features, optimizing network device logging, and creating threat detection rules. The engineer will also provide solutions for secure configurations and perform technical analyses of security incidents, all while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert of network security.
  • Configure and manage Palo Alto NGFW security systems and policies.
  • Implement and enhance advanced security features.
  • Identify overly permissive policies and misconfigurations.
  • Configure SSL Inspection and implement web application firewalls.
  • Tune, optimize, and normalize network device logging for visibility and efficiency.
  • Create threat detection rules using data from various security platforms.
  • Develop technical documentation detailing playbooks, workflows, and queries.
  • Provide solutions to improve secure configuration and hardening of networks and cloud technologies.
  • Perform technical analysis of malware and network/web application attacks.
  • Research latest threats and attack tactics and implement defensive measures.

Requirements

  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or equivalent preferred.
  • PCNSE certification desired.
  • Experience in deploying, configuring, and troubleshooting firewall SSL Inspection.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field or equivalent work experience in network or security.
  • Extensive experience with enterprise network security devices such as firewalls and IDS/IPS.
  • Strong experience with Palo Alto Networks solutions.
  • Experience with Palo Alto Wildfire and Threat prevention for Intrusion and Detection.
  • Experience with F5 ASM, Silverline, and Akamai WAF.
