About the position

Hoplite Solutions is seeking a Network Security Engineer to assist with the development, deployment, and operations and maintenance (O&M) of client networks. The role focuses on automating cybersecurity operations, emulating adversary behavior, and enhancing defensive postures. The engineer will evaluate tools and methodologies, assess adversary intent, develop cybersecurity analytics, and engage in research to improve cybersecurity practices.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the development, deployment, and O&M for client networks.
  • Support automation of cybersecurity operations.
  • Emulate adversary behavior to improve defensive postures.
  • Evaluate tools and methodologies for cybersecurity.
  • Assess adversary intent and develop cybersecurity analytics.
  • Develop approaches to automate cybersecurity operations.
  • Engage in research to improve the state of cybersecurity practices.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI with required polygraph clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in Ansible development.
  • Experience writing scripts for automation and network monitoring (e.g., bash, Perl, Python).
  • Experience performing network packet inspection and traffic analysis (e.g., Wireshark, TCPdump).
  • Experience implementing cybersecurity standards in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Proficiency in Linux systems, including configuring IPTables and SELinux.
  • Demonstrated experience in Linux system hardening.
  • Experience with security monitoring and log event triage using Splunk SPL.
  • Senior level knowledge of cybersecurity and information security practices.
  • Hands-on experience interpreting Linux and network data.
  • Experience in a mid to senior security analyst or network security engineer position.
  • Experience with Splunk Enterprise Security (SES) or willingness to learn.
  • Extensive experience using security products for network monitoring and endpoint security.
  • Strong understanding of incident response, including attack vector research and malware mitigation.
