About the position

The Network Security Principal Architect at PPL Services Corporation is a senior-level role focused on leading the network security strategy within the Cybersecurity organization. This position involves designing secure network architectures, implementing security controls, and conducting risk assessments to protect the organization's data and systems. The role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to integrate security measures into the network infrastructure and provide guidance to junior staff members.

Responsibilities

  • Design and document secure network architectures that meet the organization's functional and security requirements.
  • Administer, design, evaluate, and implement network security controls, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, and ACLs.
  • Design, implement, and monitor network access controls to ensure authorized access.
  • Develop and maintain security requirements and best practices for secure network design.
  • Evaluate, implement, and manage security tools and technologies to enhance network security posture.
  • Govern Network Security policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Conduct risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and threats.
  • Perform security reviews of architecture, infrastructure, and applications, and develop risk management plans.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate security controls into network infrastructure.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to network infrastructure teams.
  • Mentor and support the development of junior staff members.
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert on Network Security topics and emerging technologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in cybersecurity and/or Information Technology with a focus on network security architecture and design.
  • Strong understanding of IDS/IPS, Firewalls, VPNs, and ACLs.
  • Deep knowledge of network protocols including TCP/IP, UDP, HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, and DNS.
  • Expertise in packet-level and network traffic analysis.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining network security solutions such as SDN and NFV.
  • Experience in Incident Response activities and investigations.
  • Familiarity with Security and/or Regulatory Frameworks such as NIST.
  • Experience working in Agile teams.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with cloud-based security solutions.
  • Experience with SIEM tools.
  • Familiarity with the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).
  • Relevant industry certifications such as CNSA, CCNA Security, and PCNSE.
  • Certification in Cybersecurity (CISSP, CISM, CEH) is a plus.
