About the position

The Network Software Test Engineer at Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) is responsible for supporting new feature development and regression testing throughout the network stack. This role involves designing and developing tests, troubleshooting network issues, and collaborating with various teams to ensure the quality and performance of network functionalities. The position is remote, allowing for flexibility in managing work and personal needs.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop tests and strategies to verify network functionalities and performance.
  • Utilize exceptional network problem-solving and debugging skills to triage customer issues and resolve internal test failures.
  • Create comprehensive test plans, procedures, and processes to support new feature development and ongoing regression testing.
  • Work closely with development, build, and CI teams to integrate tests into our test and release process.
  • Continuously review, optimize, and maintain existing tests and processes.
  • Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and adherence to best practices.

Requirements

  • BS or advanced degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent industry experience.
  • 8+ years' experience in a Network Test/Software Engineering role.
  • Experience developing test plans/use cases and incorporating tests into a CI/CD environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of data networking (TCP/IP, Ethernet, Linux network stack, and related technologies).
  • Experience in systems performance analysis and tuning.
  • Strong background in Linux.
  • Proficient in programming languages such as Python, BASH/shell scripting, C, etc.
  • Knowledge of RDMA networking and/or file systems is a plus.
  • Good written and verbal communications skills.
  • Success working in a fast-paced, changing environment; strong sense of urgency.
  • Experience in working with customers on issue resolution.
