About the position

The Network Solutions Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining network solutions specifically tailored for the Air Force infrastructure. This role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure secure, efficient, and reliable network operations in military environments. The ideal candidate will leverage their extensive experience in network engineering to provide innovative solutions that meet the unique needs of USAF/DoD customers.

Responsibilities

  • Design network solutions that align with Air Force infrastructure requirements.
  • Work closely with Business Development and technical team to design and propose solutions to customers.
  • Provide technical solution development for USAF/DoD customers with networking/infrastructure requirements.
  • Develop and provide the technical aspect of RFI/RFQ responses to strategic opportunities.
  • Obtain insights into DoD/USAF product, technology, business strategy and roadmap.
  • Help to clarify product requirements and provide input into the development SOW.
  • Support technical conversations with the customers for product questions and issues post-win.
  • Keep current with technical directions of key strategic partners, such as Cisco, Brocade, Aruba, EMC, etc.
  • Participate in standards committees and industry groups as appropriate.
  • Prepare and present technical presentations and product demonstrations to customers.
  • Maintain current and advise customers on industry trends, future technologies and market opportunities.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and recommend enhancements to existing systems.
  • Develop and deliver technical documentation, training, and presentations to team members and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with IT and security teams to integrate network solutions with existing systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in network engineering, with a focus on military or government environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Air Force network infrastructure, protocols, and standards (e.g., DISA STIGs, NIST, RMF).
  • Proficiency in network design tools and methodologies, as well as troubleshooting techniques.
  • Experience with networking equipment (routers, switches, firewalls) and virtualization technologies.
  • Familiarity with cloud computing and hybrid network solutions.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, Security+, Network+) are highly desirable.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with specific Air Force programs or projects.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity practices within military operations.
  • Knowledge of software-defined networking (SDN) and automation tools.
  • Being located in one of the following areas is a plus: Dayton, OH, San Antonio, TX, Montgomery, AL, or Hanscom AFB, MA.
