Network Specialist / System Administrator

About the position

The Network Specialist/System Administrator at Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC) is responsible for developing, designing, and maintaining the computer network infrastructure that supports the distributed control system (DCS) and simulator. This role involves ensuring the operational integrity of network systems, performing configuration management, and providing technical expertise in network hardware and software interconnections.

Responsibilities

• Performs moderately complex configuration management and release engineering tasks.
• Designs and plans standard network systems.
• Conducts testing of network systems.
• Provides specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture.
• Provides detailed information for hardware and software selection and implementation techniques.
• Performs operational analysis and effectiveness analysis.
• Maintains software configuration management tools.
• Contributes to completion of milestones associated with specific projects.
• Maintains technical expertise in network and computer hardware and software interconnection.
• May build and design training models.
• Evaluates and reports on new network technologies at the senior level.
• May train software developers in the use of configuration management tools.

Requirements

• High school diploma, Associate's degree, or Bachelor's degree with practical and relevant experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Computer Science preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
