About the position
The Network Storage Engineer Consultant will play a crucial role in managing centralized storage technologies, supporting the Infrastructure Services team throughout the full storage system life cycle. This includes planning, acquiring, deploying, managing, and retiring various storage solutions such as Pure, Rubrik, EMC, and NetApp. The position requires expertise in configuring and managing AWS storage gateways and designing on-premises storage solutions.
Responsibilities
- Engineer, design, implement, upgrade, and manage customers SAN/NAS environment
- Troubleshooting storage and networking issues related to SAN/NAS services
- Gathering requirements and providing technical planning and documentation for future storage needs on a project basis
- Developing a long-term (5-year) SAN/NAS storage road-map including technology selection, sizing, refresh dates, and costs
- Documenting processes and procedures for storage life-cycle management for internal team use
- Installing and configuring storage monitoring solutions to track storage health and utilization
- Providing actionable Network Operations Center alerts and run-books for first level support response to problems
Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years related experience or equivalent combination of experience and education
- Experience with block, object, and file storage solutions including Pure, EMC, VPlex, XtremIO, ECS Object Storage, Unity technologies
- Experience documenting technical solutions using Atlassian Confluence and Microsoft Visio
- Solid understanding of NFS, iSCSI, CIFS, S3, and FC storage protocols
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to document strategies and designs and present to management with benefits analysis
