About the position

The Network Support Engineer will be responsible for providing technical support and troubleshooting for network systems, focusing on L1/L2 issues related to routing and switching. This role involves working closely with monitoring teams, supporting company events, and ensuring the smooth operation of network equipment and configurations. The position requires onsite presence in Santa Clara, CA, and entails collaboration with global network support teams to address various network challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Perform L1/L2 troubleshooting for routing and switching issues.
  • Configure and install switches, including VLAN configuration.
  • Monitor backbone circuits and internet performance.
  • Support company events by coordinating network support.
  • Troubleshoot client VPN issues at L2 level using Cisco Anyconnect and Palo Alto Prisma Access.
  • Interact with wireless SMEs to resolve wireless issues.
  • Provide onsite support around the Santa Clara HQ.
  • Troubleshoot and install network equipment in area PoPs.
  • Run basic scripts in Python and Bash for network tasks.

Requirements

  • Experience with BGP, EVPN, VXLAN, and DMVPN protocols.
  • Proficient in Spanning Tree and L1/L2 wireless troubleshooting.
  • Ability to install and configure dedicated internet circuits.
  • Experience with Cisco Anyconnect and Palo Alto Prisma Access.
  • Basic scripting skills in Python and Bash.
  • Familiarity with network monitoring tools and dashboard creation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Netbox or Nautobot.
  • Familiarity with Grafana for monitoring.
  • Experience with Mellanox / Cumulus OS.
  • Knowledge of Juniper Mist wireless systems.
  • Experience in campus network switching and wireless troubleshooting.
  • Basic Linux command line experience.
