About the position

The Network Support Engineer at Leidos will provide comprehensive network engineering support for various programs at Scott Air Force Base, IL. This role involves planning, designing, and evaluating network components, as well as implementing solutions to technical problems. The engineer will work within the Network Operations Center (NOC) team, ensuring the operational integrity of the Defense Information System Network (DISN) services for the Department of Defense (DoD).

Responsibilities

  • Provide overall network engineering support for a broad range of programs.
  • Plan, design, and evaluate various components of the network.
  • Provide specifications for network architecture and evaluate new technologies.
  • Utilize systems analysis techniques to determine functional requirements.
  • Design and implement solutions to technical problems through testing and documentation.
  • Operate telecommunications test equipment and perform network testing.
  • Proactively manage and maintain all network assets, including troubleshooting.
  • Provide engineering support and advanced technical operational support to DISN.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma and 1-3 years of related experience.
  • Experience in network engineering, problem management, and performance management.
  • Knowledge of implementing, administering, and analyzing network systems.
  • Understanding of telecommunications and information technology terms.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Experience with network services (BGP, OSPF, DHCP, DNS, etc.) and network appliances.
  • DoD 8570 certification at IAT level II (Security+ CE or equivalent) required.
  • Active DoD Secret Security Clearance with eligibility for SSBI.

Nice-to-haves

  • ITIL certification.
  • Experience with DISA Request Fulfillment process and associated documents.
  • Understanding of Department of Defense policies and hierarchy.
  • Network certifications (CCNA, CCNP, MCSE, Security + CE, CISSP, etc.).
