About the position

The Network/System Administrator position at SIGMADESIGN is a direct placement opportunity for a global company located in Gresham, OR. This role is designed to support business processes, communication, collaboration, and knowledge management through the deployment, maintenance, and support of enterprise technology, infrastructure, applications, and site technical systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing stakeholder relationships and ensuring service delivery for commercial systems and Industrial IT (IIT) services at the Portland site. This is a full-time permanent position that offers excellent benefits, including 4 weeks of paid time off (PTO) in addition to 40 hours of sick time, structured career development, and a choice of health plans. The primary function of the Network/System Administrator is to ensure the continuous availability, security, and performance of file/print services, email, and Internet services in a 24/7 environment. This includes monitoring and controlling priority incidents, ensuring IT services are delivered according to standard operating procedures and agreed Service Level Agreements (SLA), and focusing on customer service and troubleshooting. The role also involves managing outsourced teams, monitoring performance and costs, and identifying service improvement opportunities based on data analysis and customer feedback. In addition, the Network/System Administrator will manage and support the Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN), apply OS patches and upgrades, support the Disaster Recovery Plan, and ensure that infrastructure systems are operating optimally. The position requires daily system monitoring, log analysis, and verification of hardware and server resources, ensuring that all services are delivered securely and resiliently. The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in a computer-related field or equivalent experience, along with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and control priority 1 and 2 calls (Incident Management)
  • Ensure IT services are delivered according to standard operating procedures and/or agreed Service Level Agreements (SLA)
  • Focus on customer service, troubleshooting and immediate time-bound response for the end user
  • Escalate complex queries to the relevant regional support organization
  • Monitor the performance, cost & demand (quality and volume) within the business economic context and approved budgets
  • Identify service improvement opportunities from data trend analysis and customer need/input
  • Outsourced team management to ensure effective resource utilization across the portfolio
  • Manage, support, and ensure operating viability of LAN (Local Area Network) and WAN (Wide Area Network) both wired and wireless for all hours of operation
  • Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities
  • Ensure Windows server availability compliance to Service Level Agreements
  • Support the Disaster Recovery Plan for networks and systems
  • Ensure infrastructure systems and services are operating at optimal level to ensure business functions, high availability and recoverability
  • Install new or rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project or operational requirements
  • Install new software releases, evaluate, and install patches and resolve security or software related problems
  • Use a ticket management software to track progress on issues until resolution and closure
  • Work with developers, DBA service providers and datacenter operators to coordinate the resolution of problems and issues
  • Perform daily system monitoring, analyze logs, verify the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, review system and application logs, and verify completion of scheduled jobs such as backups
  • Ensure all IM services are delivered in a secure and resilient manner

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in a computer-related field or equivalent combination of experience
