The Network/System Administrator (Net/Sys Admin) I position at General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) is a critical role that supports the operations of the largest government agency in the nation, specifically the Department of Defense (DoD). The primary responsibility of this role is to organize, install, and support the computer systems of government organizations, which includes managing local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), network segments, intranets, and other data communication systems. The administrator will also be involved in the architecture, design, and analysis of network models, ensuring that the infrastructure is robust and secure. This position requires participation in decision-making processes regarding the procurement of future hardware and software to enhance the organization's capabilities. In addition to technical responsibilities, the role involves providing technical support to computer users, assisting them in resolving issues they encounter. The administrator will support activities within Special Access Programs (SAPs) that cater to various DoD agencies, including the HQ Air Force and the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD). Daily operations will include managing Collateral, Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), and SAP activities, ensuring that all systems are functioning optimally and securely. The successful candidate will be expected to operate under supervision, execute day-to-day management and operations of systems and networks, and manage both Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) and Government Off-The-Shelf (GOTS) products. They will follow Operations and Maintenance (O&M) checklists to maintain service levels and develop Tactics, Techniques, and Processes (TTPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to service checklists. The role also involves operating monitoring tools and capabilities with enterprise security information and event management (SIEM) systems, creating and tailoring complex event alarms and summary reports, and assisting in the analysis of technical risks associated with emerging cybersecurity tools and processes. The administrator will work as part of a security incident response team as needed, ensuring that the organization's cybersecurity posture is maintained and improved.
