The primary function of the Network/System Administrator (Net/Sys Admin) I is to organize, install, and support the computer systems of a government organization, which includes local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), network segments, intranets, and other data communication systems. This role is critical in helping to architect, design, and analyze network models, ensuring that the infrastructure is robust and secure. The administrator will also participate in decisions regarding the procurement of future hardware or software to enhance the organization's capabilities. In addition to these responsibilities, the position requires providing technical support to computer users, assisting them in resolving their issues. The administrator will support activities within Special Access Programs (SAPs) that are aligned with the Department of Defense (DoD) agencies, including HQ Air Force and the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD). Daily support will be provided for Collateral, Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), and SAP activities, ensuring that all systems operate smoothly and securely. Performance expectations include the ability to operate under supervision, manage day-to-day operations of systems and networks, and handle Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) and Government Off-The-Shelf (GOTS) products to monitor and remediate system security and performance metrics. The administrator will follow Operations and Maintenance (O&M) checklists to maintain service and develop Tactics, Techniques, and Processes (TTPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to service checklists. Additionally, the role involves operating monitoring tools and capabilities with enterprise security information and event management (SIEM) systems, creating complex event alarms and summary reports, and assisting in analyzing technical risks associated with emerging cybersecurity tools and processes. The administrator will also work as part of a security incident response team as needed, demonstrating technical competency in various supported platforms, including Microsoft Windows Server, Red Hat Enterprise Linux servers, and various virtualization technologies. This position is essential for maintaining the integrity and security of the organization's network and systems, contributing to the overall mission of the Department of Defense to keep the country safe and secure.
