About the position

The Network/System Administrator II (Net/Sys Admin II) plays a crucial role in supporting Special Access Programs (SAPs) for Department of Defense (DoD) agencies. This position is responsible for the day-to-day management of secure MS Windows network environments, ensuring the integrity and performance of network systems while providing technical support to users. The role involves maintaining various network protocols, managing data backups, and interfacing with local customers to resolve IT-related issues efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, audit, and support a secure MS Windows network environment.
  • Maintain internet applications and protocols including IP, TCP, HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, and SSL.
  • Manage file servers, firewalls, network access, and security monitoring systems.
  • Interface with local customers to provide IT-related support and resolve problems.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot system anomalies to ensure optimal equipment performance.
  • Perform periodic maintenance, hardware upgrades, and firmware updates.
  • Manage data backup library including storage of tapes, disks, and other media.
  • Attend planning and requirements meetings with IT staff and Program Managers.
  • Prepare systems for operational use and support operational tests.
  • Provide technical guidance to team members.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of related experience in network/system administration.
  • Experience with Special Access Programs (SAP).
  • Bachelor's degree in a related area or equivalent experience (4 years).
  • Current Top-Secret Clearance with SCI Eligibility.
  • IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+ CE, CCNA Security).
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2/2012 R2 and Microsoft Exchange Server 2003/2010.
  • Working knowledge of CISCO networking and switching technologies.
  • Familiarity with Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) technologies.
  • Knowledge of Risk Management Framework and System Security Policy.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with PL1 & PL2 systems; experience with PL3 & PL4 cross-domain solutions is a plus.
  • Familiarity with security policy/manuals and other guiding policy documents.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment and interact with DOD personnel and industry partners.
