About the position

The Network & System Administrator will assist the Technology Director in maintaining the security and operation of district servers and networks. This role involves supporting the technology infrastructure of the Pittsburg Community Schools, ensuring efficient operation and security of network resources, and providing technical support to staff and students.

Responsibilities

• Assist with installation, configuration, and maintenance of network and server hardware and software.
• Monitor network resources to detect abuse or suspicious usage of network resources or servers.
• Install, update, and support the use of desktop application suites and other software.
• Assist in providing training for individuals on computer operations and use of network services.
• Maintain inventory of all district networking equipment.
• Diagnose and resolve network problems.
• Respond to district technology requests.
• Perform other delegated responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor's Degree in technology-related field or equivalent experience in server and network administration.
• Experience with using and maintaining electronic equipment.
• Experience with installing and testing standard network wiring and components.
• Experience with setting up, installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and cleaning all types of mobile, desktop, server and networking hardware.
• Familiarity with Macintosh, Windows, and Linux server environments.
• Experience with preserving the data integrity of hosted systems, data migration, and backups.
• Experience in WLAN, LAN, WAN, Internet, and Intranet network design.
• Experience with the use and maintenance of major desktop and mobile operating systems.
• Experience with the use, installation, and maintenance of both real and virtual client and server operating systems.
• Experience with managing standard e-mail and directory service systems.
