About the position

The National Security Agency (NSA) is seeking expert-level networking professionals to support its technical mission office. The role involves designing, developing, deploying, sustaining, and monitoring advanced network solutions across various communication networks worldwide. Candidates should possess a strong educational background and relevant experience in networking technologies and practices.

Responsibilities

  • Support a technical mission office by providing expert-level networking solutions.
  • Design, develop, deploy, sustain, and monitor state-of-the-art network solutions including WAN, CAN, LAN, DCN, and Satellite communications networks.
  • Work with multi-vendor infrastructure platforms such as Cisco, Brocade, Juniper, and Arista.
  • Implement network encryption devices and WAN accelerators.
  • Utilize multi-vendor Layer 3 routing protocols like BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, and others.
  • Manage Virtual Private Networking technologies including MPLS, GRE, and IPsec.
  • Engage with data center architectures and converged networks.
  • Stay updated on current networking trends, particularly Software Defined Networks (SDN).
  • Implement load balancing and Application Delivery Controller technologies.
  • Design WAN architectures including Carrier Ethernet and Optical Fabrics.
  • Utilize network monitoring tools such as NetFlow Tracker and Wireshark.
  • Model networks using tools like RiverBed/OPNet and NetSim.
  • Manage network boundaries with Next Generation Firewalls and VPN Concentrators.
  • Implement Cross Domain Solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Network Engineering, Systems Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 9 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree, 7 years with a Master's degree, or 5 years with a Doctoral degree.
  • Experience in network or system administration.
  • Additional experience in computer or information systems design, programming, or cybersecurity is preferred.
  • Completion of military training in relevant areas may count towards experience requirements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Technical certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, SEC+.
  • Experience in Network Security, Routing, and Switching.
  • Knowledge of Risk Management Framework (RMF).
  • Skills in Threat analysis and Cybersecurity.
