About the position

The Division of Court Modernization (DCM) within New York State's Office of Court Administration is dedicated to enhancing the functionality and accessibility of court spaces. This initiative aims to ensure that all stakeholders can fully participate in the justice process, enriching their experience through human-centered design and innovative technology. DCM is at the forefront of delivering solutions that improve the efficiency and quality of justice services for millions of New Yorkers. The focus of DCM includes AV/IT integration, which encompasses structured wiring, audio and acoustic systems, evidence presentation systems, videoconferencing, streaming, digital signage, and accessibility technology. The positions available are for Network/System Engineer II and III, which will be filled based on the qualifications of the applicants. Network/System Engineers III will work independently, overseeing subordinate personnel and supervising the installation and configuration of network/system architecture. They will be responsible for planning and delivering multiple technical systems and projects, ensuring that all technology needs are met while assessing the performance of their team. In contrast, Network/System Engineers II will work under supervision, overseeing the work of junior engineers and help desk personnel, and will be responsible for the installation and configuration of network/system architecture as well as troubleshooting various technical issues. Both roles are crucial in ensuring that the technology infrastructure within the court system operates smoothly and efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the work of subordinate personnel and supervise the installation and configuration of network/system architecture.
  • Plan and deliver multiple technical systems and technology infrastructure projects.
  • Work with executive and court managers to assess technology needs and performance of subordinate personnel.
  • Provide technical support for users and networks/systems according to established processes and guidelines.
  • Prepare project plans and status reports for technical projects and initiatives.
  • Evaluate and troubleshoot network servers, telecommunications equipment, courtroom technical equipment, software, and hardware.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Five (5) years of related technical experience in a help desk or technical environment for Network/System Engineer III; four (4) years for Network/System Engineer II.
  • Experience in audio-visual technology, information technology (networking or programming), or customer services (Help Desk or training) is preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in project management or engineering roles.
