About the position

Genesis10 is seeking a Network/System Engineer for a 12+ month contract position in the financial industry. The role involves participating in the design, development, and implementation of systems engineering activities, providing technical support, and ensuring the stability of critical banking platforms. The engineer will work collaboratively with application and testing teams, lead middleware engineering and administration, and communicate with business partners at an enterprise level.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in design, development and implementation of systems engineering activities, including OS technical support and data center capabilities.
  • Responsible for complex engineering and analytical tasks and activities.
  • Assist in establishing input/output processes and working parameters for hardware compatibility and coordination of subsystems design and integration.
  • Serve as a proficient technical resource, providing technical knowledge and capabilities as a team member and individual contributor.
  • Influence and direct activities of a team related to special initiatives or operations without having direct reports.
  • Provide input on staffing, budget, and personnel.
  • Lead end-to-end administration duties for critical banking platforms, delivering middleware infrastructure for enterprise projects and regulatory initiatives.
  • Ensure production stability, platform remediation, patching and upgrades, mitigating and managing risk.
  • Middleware engineering and administration includes installation, configuration, risk mitigation, performance tuning, and troubleshooting as L3 production support.
  • Collaborate with customers on a daily basis providing middleware advice, consultation, and support.
  • Create, maintain and support application deployment templates, serving as a J2EE architect and making recommendations on J2EE best practices.
  • Design Middleware infrastructure and topology for high availability and failover capability, ensuring compliance with policies and business requirements.
  • Provide technical consultation to team members and their supported areas.
  • Communicate with business partners at an enterprise level.
  • Interface with internal customers and external vendors throughout the software development life cycle (SDLC).
  • Execute production changes for integrated and regulatory releases with precision.

Requirements

  • 5 or more years of systems engineering experience.
  • 3 or more years of experience as a Java/J2EE Middleware Engineer.
  • Experience with one or more Middleware products: Appian, Software AG WEB METHODS.
  • Linux Operating System experience.
  • Java/Container Framework experience.
  • Experience with one of the following scripting languages: shell, python, Jython, Perl.
  • Experience with one or more Release Deploy Tools: Ansible, Ansible Tower, XLR, BitBucket, Celestial.
