About the position

Genesis10 is seeking a Network/System Engineer for a 12+ month contract position in the financial industry. The role involves providing middleware administration for critical banking platforms, ensuring production stability, and delivering enterprise projects. The engineer will work closely with application teams, provide technical consultation, and manage middleware platforms to mitigate risks.

Responsibilities

• Provide middleware administration duties for critical banking platforms, including WebSphere, jBoss, Tomcat, Apache, IBM HTTP Server, and WXS.
• Deliver middleware enterprise projects and regulatory legislative initiatives.
• Ensure production stability from an ongoing support standpoint.
• Patch middleware platforms with the most current version of software to manage risk.
• Administer WebSphere Application Server, including server installation, configuration, performance tuning, and production support.
• Work with customers on a daily basis, providing WebSphere and Java support.
• Serve as a J2EE architect and recommend J2EE best practices in application development.
• Design WebSphere infrastructure and topology for high availability and failover capability.
• Provide technical consultation to team members and their supported areas.
• Communicate with business partners at an enterprise level.
• Interface with internal customers and external vendors throughout the software development life cycle (SDLC).
• Execute production changes for client integrated and regulatory releases.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• 5-7 years of experience in Information Technology.
• Experience with middleware products: Apache, J2EE, Java, JBoss, WebSphere Application Server, WebLogic, Tomcat.
• Proficient in Linux operating system.
• Knowledge of Java/Container Framework.
• Familiarity with shell, jython, and perl scripting.
• Understanding of network infrastructure (HTTP/S, TCP/IP, TLS, DNS, Load-balancers, firewalls, proxies, B2B links).
• Experience with Release Deploy tools: Ansible, Ansible Tower, XLR, BitBucket, Celestial.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with strong attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves

• Automation skills with Python or other tools.
• Ansible experience deploying install packages.
• Experience with WebSphere Extreme Scale and BRMS Middleware Administration.
• DEVOPS experience.
• Familiarity with other products like BMC Remedy and Harmon mDeliver.
