About the position

The Network/Systems Administrator at Robert Half is responsible for managing and maintaining the organization's Cisco networking infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance and reliability. This role involves configuring and troubleshooting firewalls, overseeing Windows Server environments, managing VMware technologies, and implementing security measures to protect the network. The administrator will also provide technical support, document configurations, and participate in network-related projects.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain the organization's Cisco networking infrastructure, including routers, switches, and wireless access points.
  • Configure, troubleshoot, and optimize firewalls to establish secure network boundaries.
  • Oversee the installation, configuration, and administration of Windows Server environments, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
  • Manage and support VMware virtualization technologies, including vSphere and vCenter.
  • Monitor network and server performance, proactively identify issues, and implement necessary adjustments.
  • Collaborate with the IT team to design and implement network and security architectures.
  • Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Conduct regular security audits, vulnerability assessments, and penetration testing.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in networking, security, and virtualization technologies.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to end-users.
  • Document network and system configurations, changes, and procedures.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of network and system-related projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Proven experience as a Network and Systems Administrator, focusing on Cisco networking, firewalls, Windows Server, and VMware.
  • Cisco certifications such as CCNA or CCNP are highly desirable.
  • In-depth knowledge of firewall technologies and security best practices.
  • Proficiency in Windows Server administration, including Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP.
  • Hands-on experience with VMware vSphere and vCenter.
  • Familiarity with network monitoring tools and performance optimization techniques.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex network and systems issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to collaborate effectively with team members and end-users.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure) is a plus.
  • Prior experience with Linux administration is advantageous.
