About the position

The Network Systems Engineer (IT Sys Eng III) position is a critical role within our organization, focusing on the design, implementation, and maintenance of complex network systems for government clients. This position requires a deep understanding of network architecture, protocols, and security measures to ensure the integrity and performance of our systems. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop solutions that meet the specific needs of our government clients, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards. In this role, you will be responsible for analyzing and troubleshooting network issues, implementing network security measures, and optimizing network performance. You will also be involved in the planning and execution of network upgrades and migrations, ensuring minimal disruption to services. The position requires a proactive approach to identifying potential issues and implementing solutions before they impact operations. The ideal candidate will have experience with a variety of networking technologies, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs. You will be expected to stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies, providing recommendations for improvements and enhancements to our network infrastructure. Additionally, you will play a key role in documentation and reporting, ensuring that all network configurations and changes are accurately recorded and communicated to relevant stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in network engineering or a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, etc.).
  • Experience with network security technologies (firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS).
  • Proficiency in configuring and managing routers and switches.
  • Ability to analyze and troubleshoot complex network issues effectively.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent.
  • Experience with cloud networking solutions.
  • Familiarity with government regulations and compliance standards.
  • Knowledge of network monitoring and management tools.
