About the position

As a Network Systems Engineer (Pre-Sales) at Arista Networks, you will be an integral part of the Sales Engineering team, working closely with industry experts and technical leaders. This role is designed for individuals who are not only technically proficient but also understand the business implications of networking solutions. You will report to the Regional Engineering Manager and collaborate with skilled field engineers, product management, and software development teams to align Arista's offerings with the strategic goals of our clients. Your contributions will be pivotal in steering product developments and ensuring that our solutions meet the evolving demands of the digital landscape. In this position, you will act as a trusted advisor to customers, gathering requirements and identifying opportunities within Northern California. You will collaborate with Arista Account Managers to conduct in-depth architectural reviews, focusing on enhancing network performance and efficiency. Your role will involve delivering product presentations on Arista's Open Networking Data Center and Cognitive Campus solutions, as well as conducting hands-on testing of customer proof-of-concept setups. You will provide design guidelines and recommendations to optimize network infrastructure, ensuring that Arista's solutions are tailored to meet the specific needs of clients. Additionally, you will engage with the sales team to respond to RFPs and provide valuable feedback to product management. Your expertise will help shape the future of Arista's network solutions, and you will represent the company at industry events, promoting our innovative offerings. Staying current with industry trends and authoring informative white papers will also be key aspects of your role, showcasing your knowledge in network design and implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a trusted advisor to customers, gathering requirements and identifying opportunities with existing and new customers in Northern California.
  • Collaborate with Arista Account Managers to conduct whiteboard network architectural reviews to identify areas for improvement in network performance and efficiency.
  • Conduct product presentations of Arista's Open Networking Data Center and Cognitive Campus networking solutions, including CloudVision and Security solutions.
  • Utilize expertise in network design and implementation to create scalable Arista Data Center and Campus network solutions.
  • Conduct hands-on testing of customer proof-of-concept setups and network deployments using Arista products.
  • Offer design guidelines and recommendations to enhance network performance and efficiency for clients.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to respond to RFP/RFQs and provide feedback to Product Management and Engineering.
  • Represent Arista at industry events and conferences, promoting innovative network solutions.
  • Stay current with industry trends and advancements in networking technology.
  • Author and collaborate on informative white papers on Arista technology and products.

Requirements

  • Network Industry Certification preferred, such as ACE-L4, ACE-L6, ACE-L7, and others.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in L2/L3 networking design and implementation with a focus on Data Center, Campus, and Wi-Fi solutions.
  • Expert-level experience with routing and switching, including L2/L3 protocols, as well as overlay technologies such as VxLAN.
  • Current hands-on experience in designing highly scalable leaf-spine network architectures.
  • Proven work experience as a Sales Engineer, Solutions Architect, Pre-Sales SE, or Network Consulting Engineer is preferred.
  • Expert knowledge in Ethernet, RSTP/MSTP, VLANs, IP Routing, TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, eBGP, VxLAN, Multicast, Spanning Tree, and QoS.
  • Good understanding of the competitor technology landscape, specifically Cisco and Juniper.
  • Expert-level knowledge of the industry-standard Command Line Interface (CLI).
  • Previous experience building network automation using Python and Ansible is highly desired.
  • Strong writing skills and ability to create informative white papers on technology and products is highly desired.

  • Experience with network automation tools and scripting languages.
  • Familiarity with cloud networking solutions and services.
  • Knowledge of security protocols and best practices in networking.
