About the position

The Network Systems Engineer (Pre-Sales) at Arista Networks plays a crucial role in the Sales Engineering team, acting as a trusted advisor to clients and collaborating with account managers to enhance network performance and efficiency. This position involves conducting product presentations, hands-on testing of network solutions, and providing design recommendations to meet client needs. The engineer will also represent Arista at industry events and contribute to product development through customer feedback.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a trusted advisor to customers, gathering requirements and identifying opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Arista Account Managers to conduct whiteboard network architectural reviews.
  • Conduct product presentations of Arista's networking solutions, including CloudVision and Security solutions.
  • Utilize expertise in network design to create scalable Data Center and Campus network solutions.
  • Conduct hands-on testing of customer proof-of-concept setups and network deployments.
  • Offer design guidelines and recommendations to enhance network performance.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to respond to RFP/RFQs and provide feedback to Product Management.
  • Represent Arista at industry events and conferences to promote network solutions.
  • Stay current with industry trends and advancements in networking technology.
  • Author and collaborate on informative white papers showcasing expertise in network design.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in L2/L3 networking design and implementation.
  • Expert-level experience with routing and switching, including L2/L3 protocols and overlay technologies.
  • Current hands-on experience in designing highly scalable leaf-spine network architectures.
  • Proven work experience as a Sales Engineer, Solutions Architect, Pre-Sales SE, or Network Consulting Engineer.
  • Expert knowledge in Ethernet, RSTP/MSTP, VLANs, IP Routing, TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, eBGP, VxLAN, EVPN, Multicast, Spanning Tree, and QoS.
  • Good understanding of the competitor technology landscape, specifically Cisco and Juniper.
  • Expert-level knowledge of the industry-standard Command Line Interface (CLI).

Nice-to-haves

  • Network Industry Certification preferred, such as ACE-L4, ACE-L6, ACE-L7.
  • Previous experience building network automation using Python and Ansible is highly desired.
  • Strong writing skills and ability to create informative white papers on technology and products is highly desired.
