About the position

The Network Systems Engineer (Pre-Sales) at Arista Networks plays a crucial role in the Sales Engineering team, acting as a trusted advisor to enterprise and financial service customers. This position involves collaborating with Account Managers to understand customer needs, conducting technical presentations, and designing network solutions that leverage Arista's innovative technologies. The role requires a blend of technical expertise and business acumen to align solutions with client goals, while also contributing to product development and industry representation.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a trusted advisor for customers to gather requirements and identify opportunities.
  • Conduct whiteboard network architectural reviews and product presentations.
  • Architect, design, and propose Arista Data Center & Campus network solutions using leaf-spine architectures.
  • Perform hands-on tests to validate customer proof-of-concept setups and network designs.
  • Put together design guidelines and recommend improvements for customer networks.
  • Partner with Sales Team to respond to RFP/RFQs.
  • Provide feedback to Product Management and Engineering.
  • Represent Arista at SDN and Open Networking industry events and conferences.
  • Keep up-to-date on competitive solutions, products, and services.
  • Author white papers on technology and product.

Requirements

  • BS/CS/CE technical degree required.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of L2/L3 networking design and implementation experience.
  • Expert level experience with routing and switching including L2/L3 protocols.
  • Recent experience in leaf-spine architecture design.
  • Demonstrated work experience as a Sales Engineer, Solutions Architect, Pre-Sales SE or Network Consulting Engineer preferred.
  • Expert knowledge in Ethernet, RSTP/MSTP, VLANs, IP Routing, TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, eBGP, VxLAN, Multicast, Spanning Tree, QoS.
  • Good understanding of competitor technology landscape - Cisco, Juniper.
  • Expert level knowledge of industry-standard CLI.
  • Experience with SDN and Network Function Virtualization (NFV) highly desired.
  • Previous experience building network automation using Python and Ansible desired.

Nice-to-haves

  • Network Industry Certification preferred (e.g. CCIE (R&S), JNCIE).
  • Ability to write white papers a plus.
