About the position

Edison Electric Institute (EEI) is seeking a skilled Network & Systems Engineer who is passionate about network engineering and architecture. This role is crucial for ensuring the security and efficiency of complex information systems within the organization. The Network & Systems Engineer will be responsible for implementing, monitoring, maintaining, and administering EEI's secure network, which supports critical information systems and data. The successful candidate will collaborate across the IT department to ensure that the network infrastructure is reliable, redundant, performant, scalable, and secure. This position offers an opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of EEI's technological landscape. In this role, the engineer will maintain, troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve issues with EEI's computer network and systems, which include hardware, systems software, applications software, and other related systems. Responsibilities will also include performing disaster recovery operations and data backups, ensuring that all server, system, and software patches are up to date, and collaborating with users to identify and resolve Tier 2-3 issues. The engineer will protect data, software, and hardware by implementing network security measures and will evaluate and develop requirements for network and software technologies, including LANs, WANs, VPNs, routers, firewalls, and related devices. The role requires the implementation, administration, and troubleshooting of network devices such as wireless access points, firewalls, routers, switches, controllers, servers, VoIP, and virtual machines. The engineer will also be responsible for replacing faulty network hardware components, maintaining virus protection software, monitoring network performance, and installing network security architectures. Additionally, the engineer will respond to intrusion detection system cues and anti-virus alerts, continually monitor networks for security breaches, and work with the IT team to resolve security vulnerabilities. Clear communication of IT security enhancement requirements to all EEI staff is essential, as is providing subject matter expert support to business divisions to integrate business requirements into network and cloud architectures.
