The Network Engineer plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of the enterprise network. This position involves a variety of technical and non-technical functions, where the engineer typically receives moderate instructions for routine work and general guidance for new projects or assignments. The Network Engineer is responsible for making recommendations in the design of network solutions and performing operational maintenance on all network hardware, which includes routers, switches, firewalls, wireless access control servers, and other related equipment. In addition to maintaining daily operations, the Network Engineer monitors and analyzes network performance across the organization's Local Area Network (LAN), Wide Area Network (WAN), and Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN). The role also includes assisting in the implementation of new technologies and procedures for technology systems, as well as managing and administering the security and authentication network, including remote access networks. The engineer will assist in evaluating and implementing upgrades to networking devices and security-related updates, ensuring that the telecommunications network is effectively managed and administered. Furthermore, the Network Engineer provides Tier 2 support for escalated service desk tickets, following established protocols, and offers mentorship to junior Network Engineers. This position requires a solid understanding of various networking technologies and protocols, including Cisco Nexus, routing, switching, firewalls, and more, as well as experience in designing Wide, Metro, and Local Area Networks. Candidates should possess at least one Associate level certification in Cisco Networking or have a minimum of three years of experience in a related Network Engineer position. Experience in network migrations involving over 1000 nodes is highly desirable, and familiarity with the Financial Services Industry is preferred.
