About the position

The Network Technician - Electronic position is a temporary role focused on the installation, operation, modification, repair, and monitoring of telecommunications hardware and software. The technician will work with various telecommunications systems and equipment, ensuring proper operation and maintenance while providing support across multiple locations in Connecticut. This role requires flexibility in travel and the ability to work in various environments, including central office buildings.

Responsibilities

• Install, operate, modify, repair, or monitor hardware and software for telecommunications switches.
• Perform routine maintenance of central office equipment, including inspection, cleaning, and lubrication.
• Analyze troubles, test, repair, adjust, and/or replace parts of central office power equipment and control circuits.
• Operate and maintain internal combustion engines, including diesel and portable units.
• Control emergency AC power distribution and manage soldered wire connections on distributing frames.
• Interface with other work groups within the company regarding trouble reports and clearance.
• Perform duties at unattended locations as required.

Requirements

• Past experience as a Central Office Technician or completion of two years of electronics training from a certified post-secondary school.
• Minimum of 8 months of electronics training associated with a military electronics maintenance-repair occupation and 2 years of work experience in that occupation.
• Successful completion of the Comprehensive Mastery Test (CMT) for Frontier employees.
• Official verification of education (transcripts, certifications, licenses, or military records) is required.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with UNIX, DOS, and XENIX based mini-computer systems.
• Familiarity with various telecommunications protocols and systems.
