About the position

The Network Test Engineer position at Comtech Telecommunications Corp. involves preparing test procedures and documentation for network systems, troubleshooting complex IP networks, and reporting on product performance. The role requires a strong understanding of networking protocols and the ability to create and modify programming source code for automated testing. This position is critical in ensuring the reliability and functionality of network solutions for both commercial and government customers.

Responsibilities

• Prepares test procedures and documentation from initial design phase through production.
• Troubleshoots moderate to complex IP networks, requiring in-depth understanding of ISO layers of IP networking.
• Reports, tracks, and monitors product performance, capabilities, and defects.
• Writes technical reports and develops charts, graphs, and schematics to describe system operating characteristics and malfunctions.
• Creates and sets up test fixtures.
• Creates, interprets, and modifies programming source code in multiple languages for automated test software.

Requirements

• Active US government-issued Top Secret clearance.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 4+ years of experience in Ethernet network systems with routers and switches.
• Minimum 2+ years of experience in programming; C/C++, Python, and Java preferred.
• Knowledge in Ethernet, TCP/IP Protocols, VLAN, QoS, Managed Ethernet Switches, and Routers.
• Cisco Certifications (CCNA, CCNP, CCDA, CCDP, CCIE) or equivalent is desirable.
• Familiarity with network test equipment and IP traffic analyzers such as Spirent TestCenter and Wireshark is a plus.
