About the position

As a Network Test Engineer at Booz Allen Hamilton, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the functionality, reliability, and user experience of software developed for defense networks. Your primary responsibility will be to conduct rigorous testing of software applications, collaborating closely with developers, systems engineers, and offensive security professionals. You will create comprehensive test plans and develop test cases based on user stories, executing these tests to evaluate software performance. Your findings will be documented meticulously, and you will communicate any defects to the development team to facilitate improvements. In addition to manual testing, you will automate continuous security and performance testing, ensuring adherence to quality assurance standards and procedures. You will be expected to build networks from scratch, utilizing both hardware and virtualization techniques. Your experience with IV&V testing, functional testing, or penetration testing will be essential in this position, as will your ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct rigorous testing of software applications to ensure functionality and reliability.
  • Collaborate with developers, systems engineers, and offensive security professionals to evaluate software.
  • Create comprehensive test plans and develop test cases based on user stories.
  • Execute test cases to assess software performance and document results.
  • Communicate defects and issues to the development team for resolution.
  • Automate continuous security and performance testing processes.
  • Monitor adherence to quality assurance standards and procedures.
  • Build and configure networks from scratch using hardware and virtualization techniques.

Requirements

  • Experience with IV&V testing, functional testing, or penetration testing.
  • Knowledge of basic configuration of network devices, including switches, routers, and firewalls.
  • Ability to build out networks from scratch, utilizing hardware and virtualization, VLANs, and virtual hosts.
  • TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with network vulnerability assessment, intrusion detection monitoring, network forensics, or network traffic analysis.
  • Experience using issue and project tracking software.
  • Knowledge of Agile development methodologies.
  • Knowledge of offensive security, penetration testing, red teaming, blue teaming, vulnerability research, or incident response.
  • Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills, including writing and maintaining technical documents.
  • OSCP, GPEN, GXPN, GEIR, GRTP, GCIH, or CAST Certifications.
