About the position

Modis is currently seeking a Network Test Lab Manager to join our team in Austin, TX. This role is pivotal in ensuring the quality and performance of our network products through rigorous testing and management of our test lab environment. The ideal candidate will be a sharp-minded, energetic, and passionate individual with a strong background in networking and telecom. This position is not for Network Engineers, Network Administrators, or System Administrators; rather, it focuses specifically on network product testing, requiring hands-on experience with various network products, including routers, switches, and data center equipment. As a Network Test Lab Manager, you will be responsible for the development of automated function and system testing within a physical test environment. This includes testing used and refurbished physical devices in the lab, managing a small group of lab technicians, and overseeing network taps and server capacity and configurations. You will also manage hardware and software configurations and updates, ensuring that all systems are running optimally. Collaboration with software engineers will be essential as you work to develop a system for cataloging test results and automating tests wherever possible. Additionally, you will oversee office networking and telecommunications support, as well as provide light sales engineering support when necessary. A critical aspect of this role is the ability to identify unknown networking and data center products and quickly understand their operation, ensuring that all testing processes are thorough and effective.

Responsibilities

• Development of automated Function and System Testing in a physical test environment.
• Testing used and refurbished physical devices in the test lab.
• Managing a small group of lab technicians.
• Managing network taps and server capacity and configurations.
• Managing hardware and software configurations and updates.
• Working with software engineers to develop a system for cataloging test results and automating tests where possible.
• Overseeing office networking, telecommunications, and support for test devices when volume warrants.
• Providing light sales engineering support.

Requirements

• Master or Bachelor degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Network Administration or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years' experience of testing in the telecom/networking domain.
• Experience in setting up and configuring virtual and physical network devices, like routers and firewalls.
• Minimum of 4+ years of hands-on testing of physical networking devices and equipment such as Cisco, Juniper, IXIA, and other devices.
• Experience with Cisco Networking products and other manufacturers.
