About the position

Mastech is a growing company dedicated to innovation and teamwork, currently seeking a Network Tester for our client in the IT Services domain. This is a Contract position, and the client is looking for someone to start immediately. The duration of the contract is expected to be 12+ months, and the position is located in Ashburn, VA, with a market rate compensation package. The Network Tester will serve as a domain expert and Quality Assurance Subject Matter Expert (QA SME) to drive the delivery of diverse and complex strategic initiatives within network systems. This role requires in-depth knowledge of business processes, networks, and systems involved. The Network Tester will evaluate process inefficiencies and introduce innovative methods to improve pipeline efficiency. A key responsibility will be to build strong business and end-to-end flow ownership among the certification team. Collaboration is essential in this role, as the Network Tester will work closely with peer IT organizations to architect solutions, provide thought leadership, and navigate execution hurdles. The position will also involve direct guidance to a team, taking complete accountability for independent delivery. Critical analysis and design of complex business processes, cutting-edge network technology, and module/code impact analysis will be part of the daily tasks. Additionally, the role includes generating test metrics to reflect the quality of certification and quantify improvement factors.

Responsibilities

• Work as a domain expert QA SME to drive delivery of diverse and complex strategic initiatives within network systems.
• Evaluate process inefficiencies and introduce newer ways to improve pipeline efficiency.
• Build strong business and end-to-end flow ownership among the certification team.
• Collaborate with peer IT organizations in architecting solutions and providing thought leadership.
• Provide direct guidance to a team and take complete accountability for independent delivery.
• Conduct critical analysis and design of complex business processes and network technology.
• Generate test metrics to reflect quality of certification and quantify improvement factors.

Requirements

• Minimum 5+ years of experience in network testing and quality assurance.
• Strong partnership with business counterparts to evaluate business needs and tune the certification process.
• Facilitate business operationalization and adoption to achieve PxQ targets.
• Successful partnership with development teams, architecture, and production support to communicate decisions, issues, and risks.
• Ability to transform functional, business, and system knowledge into effective test case planning and execution.
• Manage and mentor a team, planning execution and driving delivery including agile methodologies.
• Strong analytical skills to solve complex business problems and provide thought leadership.
• Hands-on experience in delivering new products and migration efforts.
• Outstanding communication and analytical skills in a globally diverse work environment.
• Strong background in various provisioning, network, and switching technologies.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in programming languages like Java, .Net, Perl/Shell/AWK scripting.
• Hands-on experience in UNIX OS and UNIX Shell scripts.
• Hands-on experience in SQL, PL/SQL scripting, and RDBMS frameworks.
• Familiarity with GIS and database management including ESRI and Bentley Microstation.
• Knowledge of spatial data analysis and working with geodatabases.
• Experience in Optical Transport Network involving ULH, Mesh, and DWDM.
