About the position

Trillium is seeking a skilled Network Engineer to support a long-term client in the design, installation, configuration, and maintenance of various network-related architectures. The ideal candidate will have experience with Cisco SDWAN, Cisco ACI, Meraki Wi-Fi, and Cisco ISE. This role involves daily support for over 2,000 network devices, requiring a solid understanding of DMVPN based on Cisco technology. The position demands proficiency in advanced routing protocols such as OSPF, BGP, and OMP, as well as network analytics using NetFlow, with Stealthwatch being a beneficial addition. The responsibilities of the Network Engineer include providing mid-senior level expertise in Cisco SDWAN and Cisco ACI, conducting network packet analysis, and managing enterprise network management platforms. Networking experience is essential, and candidates should possess the ability to support customers and employees through various communication channels, including email, telephone, and face-to-face interactions. The role also requires the development and maintenance of documentation related to the installation, administration, and maintenance of network infrastructure. Candidates must demonstrate a high level of competency across multiple network and security disciplines, including firewall administration, intrusion prevention, event analysis, and packet analysis. The Network Engineer will track work using industry-standard tracking systems, with knowledge of Jira and ServiceNow being advantageous. Additionally, the role involves responsibility for scheduled and non-scheduled after-hours maintenance and acting as an escalation point for other engineers, consultants, management, and state service providers. Exceptional written and interpersonal communication skills are crucial for success in this position.

Responsibilities

  • Design, install, configure, and maintain network-related architectures including Cisco SDWAN, Cisco ACI, Meraki Wi-Fi, and Cisco ISE.
  • Support over 2,000 network devices on a daily basis.
  • Provide mid-senior level expertise in Cisco SDWAN and Cisco ACI.
  • Conduct network packet analysis and manage enterprise network management platforms.
  • Support customers and employees via email, telephone, and face-to-face interactions.
  • Develop and maintain documentation related to the installation, administration, and maintenance of network infrastructure.
  • Demonstrate competency in multiple network and security disciplines, including firewall administration and intrusion prevention.
  • Track work using industry-level tracking systems such as Jira and ServiceNow.
  • Responsible for scheduled and non-scheduled after-hours maintenance.
  • Act as an escalation point for other engineers, consultants, management, and state service providers.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5+ years' relevant Enterprise Routing & Switching experience.
  • Cisco CCNA / CCNP certification is a minimum requirement for Routing & Switching or willingness to earn this certification.
  • In-depth understanding of network and security concepts with the ability to implement solutions.
  • Experience with ACI, SDWAN, and DMVPN is desired.
  • Hands-on experience with advanced switching environments such as Nexus, IOS, IOS-XE, and ACI.
  • Ability to work independently and function as a self-starter.
  • Experience in communicating technical situations to a non-technical audience.
  • Experience in communicating status to management and ranking personnel.
  • Flexibility to work or be contacted off-hours as required.
  • Ability to travel as needed for field installations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of Stealthwatch for network analytics.
  • Experience with industry-standard tracking systems like Jira and ServiceNow.
