About the position

The Networking Products Systems Engineering Staff Engineer is a Systems Lead responsible for overseeing functional, business, and company objectives. This role leverages Ethernet-based Networking Technology to help GE develop and manage technical objectives across multiple aircraft platforms. The position emphasizes a cross-functional engineering approach, focusing on both business and technical needs to deliver quality products that meet user requirements. The engineer will manage the systems engineering lifecycle, provide technical leadership, and ensure the successful execution of projects within the Networking Products product line.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, guide, and contribute to systems engineering efforts across GE's Networking Products and Common Computing Platform.
  • Manage the Systems Engineering Lifecycle for Networking Products and Common Computing and End System platform.
  • Develop and execute systems development and verification plans in accordance with GE Aviation processes.
  • Assist Engineering, Sales, Marketing, and Business Leaders in new pursuits.
  • Develop architecture and trade studies to comply with customer requirements.
  • Cross train Systems Engineers in the systems engineering process.
  • Drive and support engineering reuse within the Networking Products product line.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to project teams, including support for project planning, conducting reviews, metrics development/tracking, and risk management.
  • Ensure timely delivery of systems requirements and integrated validation/verification activities.
  • Support the startup of new projects to ensure they are well planned according to the product roadmap and engineering process requirements.
  • Lead/manage interdisciplinary collaboration with software, hardware, test, safety, maintainability, reliability, and certification teams.
  • Escalate issues needing additional engineering or business leadership assistance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering - Electrical, Computer Science or related field.
  • At least 10 years of experience in design & development and/or technical project leadership within an engineering product development environment.
  • Avionics Systems Engineering Process Background - ARP4754A, ARP4761 or similar.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior experience managing or designing within an Avionics Design Assurance Level A or B Environment.
  • Experience with DO-297, DO-178, DO-254 and/or DO-330 process assurance experience.
  • Familiarity with networking products or Network Interoperability Specifications.
  • Familiarity with interfaces including Ethernet, TSN Ethernet, analog, discrete, RS-232/422/485, ARINC 429/664/825.
  • Experience with engineering processes including requirements definition, validation, verification, integration, embedded software, electronic systems, FAA/EASA/NAA certification, and system safety.
