About the position

The Neurodiversity Specialist is responsible for providing specialized support and care to individuals with intellectual disabilities and autism. This role focuses on promoting the well-being, independence, and community integration of these individuals. The position requires flexibility, open availability, and the ability to work shifts, including weekends, as well as on-call responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Gather, audit, assess, and publish documentation onto the organizational drive.
  • Scan and upload all paper documents to the organizational drive weekly.
  • Collaborate with Program Specialists to create Individual Community Participation Support schedules for assigned individuals.
  • Perform shift work, providing direct support and care to individuals with intellectual disabilities and autism.
  • Assist with daily living activities and implement behavior support plans.
  • Conduct bi-weekly medication audits and maintain accurate Electronic Medication Records (E-MARs).
  • Perform weekly audits of individual records for completeness and compliance.
  • Conduct monthly inspections using the Modified Inspection Tool.
  • Manage nutritional goal oversight, including meal planning and grocery shopping.
  • Provide on-call support and fill-in coverage during emergencies.
  • Collaborate with external professionals to facilitate coordinated care.
  • Maintain open communication with individuals, families, and support networks.
  • Stay updated with current research and best practices in the field.
  • Act as an advocate for individuals with intellectual disabilities and autism.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., special education, psychology, social work).
  • Experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities and autism.
  • Knowledge of person-centered approaches and best practices.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations related to intellectual disabilities and autism services.
  • Availability for shift work and willingness to be on-call for emergencies.
  • Flexibility and open availability, including the possibility of weekend rotation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in applied behavior analysis.
  • Medication administration experience.
  • Caregiving experience in a similar setting.
  • Leadership skills.
