About the position

The Neuroimaging Biomarker Lead - Director position at Ionis is a pivotal role within the Biomarker group, focusing on the research and implementation of neuroimaging biomarkers for neurological diseases. The successful candidate will collaborate with both preclinical and clinical teams to define project needs and lead research efforts, particularly in the areas of electroencephalography (EEG) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). This role requires a strong background in neuroimaging and the ability to centralize learnings across various disease domains, while also serving as a primary contact for development teams implementing imaging and physiology biomarkers.

Responsibilities

  • Integrate as an expert leader for neuroimaging biomarkers, within a network of key decision makers with cross functional representation
  • Define needs with key stakeholders and lead research on neuroimaging biomarkers (focus on EEG and MRI) for neurological diseases
  • Support clinical and preclinical teams in strategy, implementation, and interpretation of neuroimaging biomarkers
  • Centralize learnings across disease domains for imaging and physiology biomarkers
  • Be the primary point of contact for development teams wanting to implement imaging and physiology biomarkers within their programs
  • Communicate effectively and efficiently with team members and senior management regarding updates on project status, timelines, milestones, key events
  • Present findings in internal and external forums to key stakeholders and experts
  • Work directly on multiple programs in parallel

Requirements

  • PhD or MD degree with minimum 8 years' experience, including 3+ years in industry
  • Expertise in neuroimaging biomarker research in preclinical and clinical settings
  • Excellent communication skills, comfortable leading large, cross-functional meetings
  • Organized, adaptive, and detail-oriented with the ability to multitask
  • Proven productivity and success in an intense work environment
  • Experience in life science research with a basic understanding of disease mechanisms

Nice-to-haves

  • Understanding of additional imaging biomarkers, including PET imaging, CT scan, ultrasound, and other physiology biomarkers such as evoked potentials (EPs) and electrocardiography (ECG)
