About the position

The SSM Health Physical Therapy Neurologic Resident Physical Therapist position is a full-time, paid residency program designed to advance licensed physical therapists in their neurologic knowledge and skills. This 12-month program, in collaboration with Saint Louis University, focuses on providing comprehensive training in various settings, including outpatient rehabilitation and inpatient care, with a mission to enhance lives through quality healthcare. The program aims to graduate physical therapists who exemplify leadership, reflection, and compassion in evidence-based clinical practice.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in clinical practice and mentored patient care.
  • Engage in multiple weekly structured educational experiences.
  • Teach in Saint Louis University's Program in Physical Therapy.
  • Shadow physicians to gain insights into clinical practices.
  • Create a scholarly product as part of the residency requirements.

Requirements

  • Recent graduates of APTA credentialed physical therapy programs are eligible to apply.
  • Current and valid Missouri licensure (or eligibility for Missouri licensure as a Physical Therapist) is required.
  • Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification is required.
  • Minimum of 10 weeks of clinical practice or clinical education experience in a neurologic setting.

Nice-to-haves

  • Commitment to lifelong learning and pursuit of Board Certification in Neurologic Physical Therapy.
  • Professional interests in serving the uninsured or underinsured in an urban environment.
  • Desire to develop as an instructor for an entry-level DPT program.
  • Strong fundamental skills in examination and treatment procedures.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills.
