About the position

The Neurophysiology Technologist I - PRN position involves assisting in various Neurophysiology procedures under direct supervision, aimed at diagnosing and treating nerve and brain disorders. The role requires recording and identifying Neurophysiology data, obtaining patient history, operating equipment, and maintaining a clean environment. This position is essential for providing quality patient care and requires participation in educational and departmental meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Records and identifies various Neurophysiology data in various settings.
  • Obtains patient history, attaches patient electrodes, and operates Neurophysiology equipment after supervised orientation.
  • Observes studies, analyzes wave graphs, and documents findings indicating disorders and artifacts.
  • Cares for all age groups and prepares patients for Neurophysiology studies.
  • Completes post-study paperwork to maintain patient files.
  • Adheres to hospital and departmental guidelines during patient care.
  • Attends and participates in educational, departmental, and required meetings.
  • Observes Neurophysiology data and acquires new skills under the direction of physicians and technologists.
  • Participates in maintaining equipment and reports needed repairs to the manager.
  • Maintains a clean environment, including equipment and workspaces.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in science or health-related field preferred.
  • 1 or more years of experience in the Neurophysiology/Neurodiagnostics/Polysomnography field required or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Become board eligible according to ASET Pathways within 3 years and Registered/Certified Neurodiagnostics Technologist strongly preferred within 5 years.
  • Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire.
  • Ability to provide outstanding patient care.
  • Some general knowledge of physiology.
  • Cognitive and psychomotor skills required.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with staff and physicians.
  • Basic knowledge of computers.
