About the position

The Neurophysiology Technologist I position involves assisting in various Neurophysiology procedures under direct supervision, contributing to the diagnosis and treatment of nerve and brain disorders. The role requires recording and identifying Neurophysiology data, obtaining patient history, and operating Neurophysiology equipment while ensuring adherence to hospital guidelines and maintaining a clean environment.

Responsibilities

  • Records and identifies various Neurophysiology data in various settings.
  • Obtains patient history and attaches patient electrodes after supervised orientation.
  • Operates Neurophysiology equipment and observes studies during operation.
  • Analyzes wave graphs and documents findings indicating disorders and artifacts.
  • Responsible for settings adjustments on equipment.
  • Cares for all age groups and prepares patients for Neurophysiology studies.
  • Completes post-study paperwork to maintain patient files.
  • Adheres to hospital and departmental guidelines during patient care.
  • Attends and participates in educational, departmental, and required meetings.
  • Observes Neurophysiology data and acquires new skills under direction of physicians and technologists.
  • Participates in maintaining equipment and reports needed repairs to the manager.
  • Maintains a clean environment including equipment and workspaces.

Requirements

  • High school graduate with some post-secondary college education in science or health-related area.
  • 1 year experience in Neurophysiology/Neurodiagnostics, Nursing, direct patient care, or health-related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
  • Registered/Certified Neurodiagnostics Technologist strongly preferred.
  • Expectation to become registered and/or certified Neurodiagnostics Technologist within 3 years of hire date.
  • Ability to provide outstanding patient care.
  • Some general knowledge of physiology.
  • Cognitive and psychomotor skills required.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with staff and physicians.
  • Basic knowledge of computers.
