About the position

The Neuroscience Account Manager at Vanda Pharmaceuticals is a key role within the sales organization, focused on promoting and executing sales strategies for innovative pharmaceutical products in the psychiatry sector. This position aims to exceed sales goals by delivering value to customers and requires collaboration with the District Sales Manager to align on strategies and product promotion activities. The role demands a high level of market knowledge and effective communication skills to build relationships and secure product access within institutional systems.

Responsibilities

  • Execute and promote products in alignment with sales strategy in the assigned territory.
  • Collaborate frequently with the District Sales Manager on sales and strategy direction.
  • Analyze local market and monitor performance to maximize product use.
  • Maintain a high level of product, disease, competitive, and market reimbursement knowledge.
  • Implement and monitor optimal resource allocation within the territory.
  • Communicate effectively using advanced selling and negotiation skills.
  • Identify and leverage advocacy channels.
  • Secure product access and reimbursement within institutional systems.
  • Manage travel and promotional budget.
  • Fulfill monitoring and reporting requirements including expenses and call reporting.
  • Maintain compliance with all laws, regulations, and Vanda Policies.
  • Complete additional ad-hoc projects as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with a GPA greater than 3.0.
  • Minimum of 3 years of pharmaceutical sales experience preferred.
  • Atypical anti-psychotic experience and/or orphan drug experience preferred.
  • Preferred specialty experience in psychiatry, bipolar, depression, CNS, or pain management.
  • Reimbursement experience preferred.
  • Existing relationships with psychiatrists and/or Community Mental Health Centers in the assigned territory preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving history.
  • Self-starter with a goal and results-driven mindset.
  • Strong relationships and knowledge of the territory preferred.
  • Ability to travel, including overnight trips.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in psychiatric sales or related fields.
  • Established relationships with healthcare providers in the territory.
