About the position
The New Business Representative (NBR) role is an entry-level position focused on customer contact, project coordination, billing, and contract preparation for the installation of new business gas and electric facilities. This position requires collaboration with various departments to ensure project success while adhering to safety and compliance standards. The NBR will work under the guidance of a Senior New Business Representative and is expected to manage project scope, schedule, and costs effectively.
Responsibilities
- Maximize public and employee safety by ensuring compliance with job designs to Company and State standards.
- Prepare field sketches and layouts for construction projects, providing accurate field data to estimators.
- Manage scope, schedule, and cost for assigned projects from initiation to meter set, adjusting as necessary for changes.
- Coordinate with various departments to define project objectives, design scope, schedule, roles, and responsibilities.
- Monitor project schedules and prioritize work in coordination with resource groups.
- Schedule and conduct pre-engineering meetings, addressing potential project risks and documenting pre-construction meetings.
- Communicate project status to stakeholders and facilitate resolution of project-related disputes.
- Prepare contracts to ensure compliance with standards and tariffs, providing accurate information on costs and timelines to stakeholders.
- Proactively manage customer expectations by negotiating reasonable construction dates and providing initial cost estimates.
- Ensure all applicable project documentation is maintained and all project dependencies are met before construction starts.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from a recognized college or equivalent experience.
- Three or more years of experience in construction project management or PG&E technical service planning, or 12 months as a Hiring Hall New Business Representative.
- Valid Class C California Driver's License (or higher) by Day 1 of hire.
- California minimum insurance coverage if using a personal car.

- Familiarity with tariffs, rates, contracts, Work Management (WM) SAP, and estimating processes.

Benefits
- Hourly wage rate of $46.82, subject to collective bargaining agreements and increases.
