About the position

The New Business Sales Representative is responsible for prospecting and generating new commercial business through cold calling and relationship building with potential clients. This role focuses on meeting sales goals by identifying leads, understanding customer needs, and delivering tailored service proposals. The representative will utilize the company's Growth Management System to manage prospects and document sales activities, ensuring compliance with regulations and company policies.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies leads, manages prospects and acquires new business.
  • Develops and maintains a thorough knowledge of Rumpke's services and pricing structure.
  • Determines customer needs and proposes appropriate service solutions.
  • Meets or exceeds the new business sales goals.
  • Conducts cold calls and prospecting activities that result in scheduled appointments with decision makers.
  • Prepares and delivers sales proposals/presentations to key decision makers that result in closing the sale.
  • Proposes customer solutions that comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Utilizes the company's Growth Management System (GMS Board) for scheduling and documenting activities.
  • Performs data entry to populate electronic sales orders via the Sales Management System (SMS).
  • Secures customer signatures on required Customer Service Agreements.
  • Submits and reviews reports and paperwork in a timely manner according to company policy.
  • Develops and maintains awareness of market behavior and competitive trends.
  • Attends meetings with Sales Supervisor to review sales activities and progress on goals.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in Sales preferred.
  • 1 year of customer-facing sales experience (Business to Business) preferred.
  • 2 years of outside Business to Business sales experience preferred.
  • Strong presentation, negotiation, and closing skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently to meet or exceed goals.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Organized with good time management skills.
  • Proven analytical/problem-solving skills.
  • Computer proficiency in Windows and Microsoft applications.
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver's license.

Nice-to-haves

  • Waste industry experience is a plus.
