About the position

The position involves designing and developing high-speed mixed signal chips used in the recording and playback of digital information on Hard Disk Drives (HDDs). The role requires collaboration with internal teams and external suppliers, performing component level characterization, and developing test scripts for automation. The candidate will also be responsible for testing and analyzing components to optimize system-level performance.

Responsibilities

  • Work with internal teams and external suppliers to design and develop high-speed mixed signal chips for HDDs.
  • Perform component level characterization and complete evaluation of electronic devices.
  • Collect bench measurements of high frequency analog parameters and verify digital circuitry using evaluation boards.
  • Modify existing test scripts and develop new test scripts for automation, preferably using Tool Command Language (TCL).
  • Complete HDD level testing and component level failure analysis.
  • Develop comprehensive test plans and prototype test solutions to verify component functionality.
  • Document experiments and publish detailed engineering reports.
  • Interface with chip designers to communicate findings and verify work-arounds and corrective actions.
  • Support HDD development teams to establish device settings and identify parameters to optimize system-level performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (EE) with a graduation date of December 2024 or before; Master's degree preferred.
  • Strong analog knowledge.
  • Good understanding of RF design and measurement environment, including transmission line theory and interconnects.
  • Hands-on experience with high-speed high frequency measurement tools (e.g., Network Analyzer, Spectrum Analyzer).
  • Ability to develop test scripts and automate measurements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of HDD operation and functional blocks of data path electronics.
  • Experience with Verilog/System Verilog and ModelSim.
  • Experience with CAD for PCB layouts.
