About the position

The Fully Remote Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing will provide virtual teletherapy services to students with hearing impairments. This role focuses on delivering effective educational support and instruction tailored to the needs of deaf and hard of hearing students, utilizing technology to facilitate learning in a remote environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide virtual instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students.
  • Utilize educational technology platforms for effective online teaching.
  • Communicate regularly with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student progress and needs.
  • Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the diverse needs of students.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Valid teaching certification/licensure in Deaf Education or Special Education.
  • Minimum of 1+ years of experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
  • Knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) and/or other communication methods used by individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to effectively interact with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Proficiency in using educational technology platforms and tools for virtual instruction.
