About the position

At Menorah Medical Center, we are dedicated to investing in our future nurses through our HCA Healthcare Nurse Residency Program. This program is designed to support new graduate nurses as they transition from the classroom to the clinical environment. As a New Grad Nurse, you will be part of a comprehensive training program that includes hands-on experience, mentorship, and a supportive community of nurse educators and experienced nurses. The residency program lasts for one year and focuses on developing clinical and critical thinking skills essential for success in today’s hospital setting. You will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with medical providers and other members of the care team to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care. In this role, you will assess patient conditions, perform medical procedures, administer medications, and educate patients and their families about treatment plans and medical conditions. You will be expected to document care accurately and respond promptly to patient needs, ensuring a compassionate and individualized approach to care. The program also includes advanced clinical training in specialty areas, monthly educational sessions, and opportunities to work on evidence-based practice projects. Responsibilities

  • Assess patient condition during admission and each scheduled shift, identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
  • Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by medical providers, documenting care in the patient medical record in a timely manner.
  • Administer prescribed medications and monitor patients for therapeutic responses, intervening as necessary for unintended responses.
  • Respond promptly to patient requests and strive to anticipate patient needs proactively.
  • Educate patients, families, and caregivers about medical conditions, treatment plans, medications, and possible side effects.

Requirements

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification obtained within 30 days of employment.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification obtained within 1 year of employment.
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Nursing to be completed before the start date.
  • Registered Nurse License or Graduate Nurse status in the State, with the ability to start orientation prior to passing the NCLEX.
  • No previous experience required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Other certifications may be required during employment.
  • Some travel may be needed for training, remaining local to the Kansas City metro area.
