About the position

The New Grad RN Residency at Henrico Doctors' Hospital Forest is a full-time program designed for recent nursing graduates to transition into professional nursing roles. This year-long residency provides hands-on experience, advanced clinical training, and mentorship from experienced nurse leaders, focusing on developing critical thinking and clinical skills in a supportive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patient condition during admission and each scheduled shift, identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
  • Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by medical providers.
  • Document the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Administer prescribed medications and monitor patients for therapeutic responses.
  • Notify providers and intervene as appropriate in the event of an unintended response to medication.
  • Respond promptly to patient requests and strive to anticipate patient needs.
  • Teach patients, families, and caregivers about medical conditions, treatment plans, medications, and follow-up measures.

Requirements

  • Valid RN License or Graduate Nurse in the State
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification obtained within 30 days of employment
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Nursing
  • No previous experience needed

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification obtained within 1 year of employment
  • Experience in patient monitoring
