About the position
The New Grad RN Residency at Oviedo Medical Center is a comprehensive year-long program designed to support recent nursing graduates in their transition from student to registered nurse. This program emphasizes hands-on experience, clinical training, and mentorship from experienced nurse leaders, ensuring that residents develop essential skills in patient care and critical thinking within a supportive environment.
Responsibilities
- Assess patient condition during admission and each scheduled shift, identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
- Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by medical providers.
- Document the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
- Administer prescribed medications and monitor patients for therapeutic responses.
- Notify providers and intervene as appropriate in the event of an unintended response to medication.
- Respond promptly to patient requests and strive to anticipate patient needs.
- Teach patients, families, and caregivers about medical conditions, treatment plans, medications, and follow-up measures.
Requirements
- Valid RN License or Graduate Nurse in the State
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification obtained within 30 days of employment
- Associate or Bachelor's degree in Nursing
- No previous experience needed
Nice-to-haves
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification obtained within 1 year of employment
- Other certifications may be required during employment
