About the position

The New Graduate Nurse Neuro Trauma position at Overland Park Regional Medical Center is designed for recent nursing graduates to transition into registered nursing roles through the HCA Nurse Residency Program. This year-long program provides hands-on experience in a supportive environment, focusing on clinical skills and critical thinking. The role involves working in a specialized Neuro Trauma Unit, caring for patients with neurological and trauma-related conditions, while receiving mentorship and training from experienced nurses and educators.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patient condition during admission and each scheduled shift, identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
  • Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by medical providers, documenting care in the patient medical record in a timely manner.
  • Administer prescribed medications and monitor patients for therapeutic responses, intervening as necessary.
  • Respond promptly to patient requests, anticipating needs and resolving them proactively.
  • Educate patients, families, and caregivers about medical conditions, treatment plans, medications, and follow-up measures.

Requirements

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) obtained within 30 days of employment.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) obtained within 1 year of employment.
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
  • Registered Nurse License or Graduate Nurse in the State.
  • No previous experience needed.

Nice-to-haves

  • Other certifications may be required during employment.
