About the position

Menorah Medical Center is seeking a New Graduate Nurse to join our dynamic Orthopedic and Neuro unit. This specialized unit focuses on a diverse patient population, including those undergoing hip and knee replacements, multiple revisions, amputation surgeries, and shoulder total and partial replacements. Additionally, the unit caters to neurosurgery patients who are more critically stable, dealing with complex conditions such as spine surgeries, craniotomies, deep brain stimulators, pain pumps, baclofen pumps, and intracranial pressure (ICP) monitoring. As a New Graduate Nurse, you will be supported by a team of Clinical Program Coordinators, Unit Director, Manager, and Educator, all dedicated to fostering a collaborative and supportive environment for your professional growth. The HCA Healthcare Nurse Residency Program is a year-long initiative designed to provide you with hands-on experience and help you develop essential clinical and critical thinking skills. As a Resident I Graduate Nurse, you will be part of a nurturing community that includes nurse educators, experienced nurses, and fellow residents. This program aims to facilitate your transition from student nurse to registered nurse through a structured series of learning experiences, including advanced clinical training, monthly educational sessions, preceptorship training, and mentoring from seasoned nurse leaders. You will also have the opportunity to work on an evidence-based practice project, enhancing your skills and knowledge in a real-world setting. This position offers a $10,000 sign-on bonus for eligible candidates who commit to full-time night shifts. The Nurse Residency Program at Menorah Medical Center is designed to equip you with the necessary tools to thrive in today’s hospital environment, ensuring you are well-prepared to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in accordance with the specific requirements of the department and the standards of practice for nursing.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patient condition during admission and each scheduled shift, identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
  • Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by medical providers, documenting care in the patient medical record in a timely manner.
  • Administer prescribed medications and monitor patients for therapeutic responses, intervening as necessary in case of unintended responses.
  • Respond promptly to patient requests, striving to anticipate needs and resolve them proactively.
  • Educate patients, families, and caregivers about medical conditions, treatment plans, medications, and possible side effects, ensuring complete understanding.

Requirements

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification obtained within 30 days of employment.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification obtained within 1 year of employment.
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
  • Registered Nurse License or Graduate Nurse status in the State of Kansas.
  • No previous experience required.
