About the position
The New Graduate RN position in Acute Care Surgery at VCU Health System is designed for recent nursing graduates seeking to provide high-quality care in a dynamic inpatient environment. Responsibilities
- Deliver and document direct, age-specific care to patients based on medical orders and multidisciplinary plans.
- Assist the healthcare team in the prevention of illness and injury, maintenance of wellness, and provision of comfort.
- Administer prescribed medications safely, identifying any incompatibilities or interactions.
- Recognize changes in patient situations and intervene appropriately.
- Provide direction and education to patients and families, beginning to acquire leadership skills at the unit level.
Requirements
- Current RN licensure in Virginia or eligible for compact state licensure.
- AHA BLS HCP Certification or equivalent.
- Diploma or Associate's Degree from a professional nursing program recognized by the state's Board of Nursing.
- For Clinical Nurse II: 12 to 24 months of RN experience; for Clinical Nurse III: 3 years of clinical experience.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience as an LPN, nursing assistant, or care partner in an acute care setting.
- Completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
- Certification in a specialty area for Clinical Nurse III.
