About the position

The position at American Honda Motor Co. involves analyzing drawings from the feasibility stage through the design phase to ensure that products can be manufactured within the factory's capabilities. The role is crucial in leading the Indiana Auto Plant (MMC-Manufacturing Management Center) in preparing and executing new model development and T-Stage processes. The successful candidate will be responsible for improving technical tasks and project targets from a technical perspective for product design, while also mentoring entry-level engineers to foster their development. Key responsibilities include conducting feasibility studies and detailed confirmations of new technologies, design concepts, and manufacturing processes. The individual will serve as the Technical Lead for a designated category of parts, ensuring that design verifications are correlated and that the department is represented in global verification checks aligned with Japan. The role requires ensuring horizontal communication of past problem histories across the designated category of parts, leading meetings and technical reviews to develop the most efficient manufacturing processes, and ensuring robust process designs for mass production that combine manufacturing requirements, factory characteristics, and project targets. Additionally, the position involves supporting the physical verification of vehicles during initial production at the factory, understanding factory capabilities and constraints, and leading collaborative problem-solving activities with team members from various business units, including design engineering parts (DEB). The candidate will also be responsible for developing the capabilities of themselves and their colleagues through training, mentoring, and sharing experiences in their area of technical expertise, ensuring that technical know-how is developed for the designated part category.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct feasibility studies and detailed confirmations of new technologies, design concepts, and manufacturing processes.
  • Serve as Technical Lead for designated category of parts and lead correlation of design verifications.
  • Represent the department in global verification check alignment with Japan.
  • Ensure horizontal communication of past problem history across designated category of parts.
  • Lead meetings and technical reviews to develop the most efficient manufacturing process.
  • Ensure a robust process design for mass production combining manufacturing requirements, factory characteristics, and project targets.
  • Help create and maintain all documents necessary for process, quality, robot/equipment, and training during New Model development.
  • Support physical verification of the vehicle during initial production at the factory.
  • Lead and support collaborative problem-solving activities with team members from your group and other business units.
  • Develop capability of self, colleagues, and team through training, mentoring, and sharing of experiences in area of technical expertise.

Requirements

  • B.A or B.S Degree or equivalent related experience.
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in a relevant field.
  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Catia, and reading drawings.
  • Knowledge of Honda IMS system, CRF knowledge, Part Dwg structure, and Dwg creation (MLS).
  • Understanding of MMC constraints.
