About the position

The Principal Project Engineer position at Honda focuses on leading new model development projects within the Supply Chain Management Operations Department. This role is pivotal in overseeing material handling operations at Honda's automobile powertrain and assembly sites across North America, ensuring successful new model launches and providing technical leadership. The engineer will collaborate with various departments to evaluate project impacts and maintain schedules, budgets, and reporting tools.

Responsibilities

  • Lead/support new model projects to ensure success of new model launches.
  • Support MS peg group members in studies as needed.
  • Support for new model warehouse functions as required.
  • Lead new model project team of 3PL's, Process Engineering, Packaging, and other support members.
  • Maintain and control SAP/schedule of MS related activity in order to meet deadlines.
  • Develop and maintain new model budget.
  • Share status updates to appropriate members based on evaluation schedule.
  • Evaluate study results by reviewing AutoCad layouts, process engineering designs, and MOST studies.
  • Complete or assist studies as required.

Requirements

  • Minimum 8+ years of experience in project leadership / MS Process related roles or other department New Model Project leadership.
  • Industrial Engineering Degree or other relevant work experience / degree.

Nice-to-haves

  • Create, present required speed flow documents (evaluations).
  • Support ms packaging rep in all nm pkg development/approval.
  • Manage new model event activity at the warehouse and the plant.
  • Communicate any change points to impacted teams/associates.
  • Track and report change point impacts to department and plant.
  • Attend all new model meetings for p-zone and b-zone.
  • Support department and clc training.
  • Track countermeasure status on issues identified.
  • Study and summarize future model, technology and sub-assy impacts (sqcd) as requested.
